Australian sales and service for Steele and Händle machinery
We’ve provided machinery, parts and service to Australian customers since 1958. The Steele 90 quickly became the standard for the Australian brick industry. Today, Steele stiff extruders produce most bricks made in Australia.
Our parent company, J.C. Steele & Sons, acquired the assets of the long-time Australian agent in 1996 to better serve our key Australian markets. Steele Australia also supports all Händle machinery in Australia following Steele’s acquisition of Händle in 2001.
Machinery, engineering and service
Steele Australia is based in the Melbourne suburb of Bayswater. Our full warehouse supports all Steele and Händle machinery in Australia with engineering, parts and service.
Light manufacturing and assembly
Our Bayswater operation handles light manufacturing and assembly of components, including custom made dies and bridges. We also offer rebuild services for Steele and Händle machinery. Steele Australia operates the only satellite laboratory outside Statesville, North Carolina, to evaluate materials for stiff extrusion.
Our engineers and lab technicians can work with you to develop products that meets your performance, handling and cost requirements. Read more about our lab resources for waste recovery and by-product management.
Serving Western Australia in Welshpool
We opened our second operation in the Perth suburb of Welshpool in 2009 to better serve our Western Australian customers. The Welshpool operation combines service and parts support of Steele and Händle machinery with light manufacturing capabilities.

for resource recovery
Steele stiff extrusion provides a more cost effective method for waste management and resource recovery, pelletizing iron rich by products, ferro alloy fines and coal fines.
Steele stiff extruders process 700,000 tons of laterite ore dust annually
Three Steele extruders serve a nickel laterite mining and smelting operation in Colombia, processing about 700,000 tons of agglomerated ore dust for recovery of 10,000 tons of nickel annually.
Even feeders for paste backfill, synthetic gypsum or drywall recycling
Steele E Series Even Feeders are readily customized with stock parts and a proven, modular platform. These, durable live bottom feeders deliver a consistent, accurate output for downstream machinery.
