Customers in the cement industry have found that J.C. Steele even feeders offer superior value in a wide range of feeding applications. We designed our original even feeders for consistent feeding of wet, sticky clay in the brick manufacturing process. The J.C. Steele Even Feeder, a machine that feeds not only clay, but a wide variety of wet, sticky raw materials, it is now the best selling single piece of machinery in our product line. The development of our Model E Feeders offered the versatility to provide feeding solutions to a wide series of applications in the cement industry. If you have a problem with feeding a wet, sticky material, our even feeders may be the solution.
Feeding synthetic gypsum is one of the most common applications in the cement industry (between gypsum and cement manufacturers, we currently have over 70 of our newest Model E Even Feeders in use today). With our foundation in the clay business, our feeders are also commonly used to feed clays and marls used for cement manufacture. The modular design of the Steele Even Feeder gives us the flexibility to fit our machinery into virtually any application (read more about the Steele Even Feeder).
For larger bulk storage applications, our German sister company, Händle, offers reclaimers and excavators in sizes to handle a range of capacities (Händle offers both cross dredging excavators and longitudinal dredging excavators in several capacity ranges).
J.C. Steele offers cement plants the ability to feed any of the following:
- Portland cement
- cement kiln dust
- calcium silicate
- calcium carbonate
- silica sand
- silicon dioxide
- fly ash
Our machinery is built for decades of efficient, reliable, high volume output. The experience of supporting a U.S. and international installed base, plus years of working with plant operators, machinery operators and maintenance specialists have driven steady continuous improvement in our stiff extrusion equipment, pug mills and feeding systems.
Our machines require minimal maintenance. They’re designed and engineered for harsh environments, while offering ease of service and fast replacement of wearing parts. We use high-grade ductile iron stock castings for machine frames and bodies, and our 28PC high chrome iron alloy for all wearing parts (read more about our foundry and casting process).
Every J.C. Steele machine comes with the industry’s toughest wearing parts, backed by the industry’s best customer service (J.C. Steele has a substantial investment in a global service organization and inventory commitment, warehousing augers, shafts, shaft assemblies, bearings, gears and electrical components for all J.C. Steele machinery, plus a warehouse staff offering 24/7 availability in the U.S.).
Application engineering for your specific cement kiln dust requirements
Our application engineering begins with our engineers working with you to understand your raw material and process. Once this is complete, we can typically recommend a feeding solution customized to your specific needs.
Our goal is to ensure that you have the right technology for your application, while minimizing your capital and operating costs. J.C. Steele application engineering is an ongoing process, with operations and optimization support. Our engineers and service professionals provide troubleshooting and advice on maintenance, to minimize machine downtime. We can support Lean programs for increased production capacity, help you move from a reactive approach to maintenance to conditions-based service, and reduce or eliminate downtime, to lower the cost of ownership and improve your return on investment.
The world’s best stiff extrusion machinery plus the material preparation technologies you need
J.C. Steele stiff extrusion machinery uses high torque and pressure to produce penetrometer readings as high as 4.0-4.5 kg/cm2, working with a wide range of materials. The high torque and high pressures generated in our stiff extrusion technology means that we can process materials with relatively low plasticity and low moisture content. As a result, stiff extrusion presents a more efficient, cost-effective alternative to other forms of extrusion or roll press briquetting.
We have a line of de-airing extrusion machines for your agglomeration, recycling or commercialization requirements.
