J.C. Steele mixers and pugmills represent exceptional value for treating sludge or biosolids in wastewater applications

sludge dewatering wastewater solids

J.C. Steele's smaller mixers and pugmills work extremely
well helping wastewater treatment plant operators
and agricultural producers.

J.C. Steele mixers and pug mills are well suited for a range of solid wastes, including:

  • Wastewater solids
  • Biosolids
  • Waste bio-mass
  • Cellulosic bio-mass
  • Sludge dewatering

J.C. Steele vertical integration includes:

We designed and built our entire product line to withstand the harsh working environments of brickyards.  As a result, our smaller mixers and pugmills work extremely well helping wastewater treatment plant operators and agricultural producers in a variety of applications.

One of the most common applications for wastewater treatment plants uses our high shear mixers and pug mills for the intimate mixing of bulk additives, such as lime and biosolids, to generate Class A biosolids under EPA Part 503 requirements.  The constant speed, single shaft design of our pugmills eliminates the cost, tuning, and headache of level controls, multiple shafts, and variable speed drives for improved reliability.

Our machinery can process sticky biosolids, filter cakes, sludges, dry powders, and liquids, producing an intensively mixed, homogenous product.  J.C. Steele machinery is particularly well suited to mixing two different biosolids together or for composting applications, such as mixing biosolids and sawdust together.  Regardless of the application, high shear mixing with Steele equipment provides you with the right tools to produce a mixture that is consistent in composition and maximizes the effectiveness of stabilizing agents.

Our machinery is suitable for recycling or commercialization of the following:

  • Wastewater solids
  • Bio-solids
  • Waste bio-mass
  • Cellulosic bio-mass
  • Bio-mass conversion
  • Sludge dewatering
  • Commercial composting

Most customers with these applications find that our smaller mixers and pugmills, such our 200F or 25A Pug Mills, have the durability and capacity to meet most needs (we also have equipment capable of handling up to 2,000 cubic feet per hour).

J.C. Steele machinery is built for decades of efficient, reliable, high volume output.  The experience of supporting a U.S. and international installed base, plus years of working with plant operators, machinery operators and maintenance specialists have driven steady continuous improvement in mixers and pug mills.

Our mixers and pugmills require minimal maintenance.  They’re designed and engineered for harsh environments, while offering ease of service and fast replacement of wearing parts.  We use high-grade ductile iron stock castings for machine frames and bodies, and our 28PC high chrome iron alloy for all wearing parts (more about our foundry and casting process).  Our experience shows that most wastewater applications are low wear applications for our machinery. As a result, you’ll find that our machinery represents a great value, with the dependability and low maintenance to lower your total cost of ownership.

Every J.C. Steele machine comes with the industry’s toughest wearing parts, backed by the industry’s best customer service (J.C. Steele has a substantial investment in a global service organization and inventory commitment, warehousing augers, shafts, shaft assemblies, bearings, gears and electrical components for all J.C. Steele machinery, plus a warehouse staff offering 24/7 availability in the U.S.).

Partnering with Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. to meet the full scope of wastewater needs.

We make equipment well suited to mixing applications in wastewater and biosolids applications.  However, we recognized that our scope of supply does not fully match the needs associated with wastewater applications and looked for a partner capable of supplying a full range of equipment supply, design, engineering, and project management.

We found an ideal parter in Jim Myers & Sons, Inc.   Jim Myers, serving the wastewater industry since 1962, has a nationwide footprint with 28 active representatives and is our designated representative for all North American applications in the wastewater industry.  If you’re based in North America and have a wastewater application suitable for Steele equipment, we encourage you to contact Jim Myers at http://www.myersequipment.com/jms_contact.html.
