J.C. Steele, a brick manufacturer in Statesville, NC receives his first patent for brickmaking. He founds J.C. Steele & Sons and the oldest of his four sons joins the family business.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

1892-1893<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele introduces its first two auger machines.
\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1900<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The introduction of Model Number 1, the first machine designed and manufactured by Steele and forerunner of larger machines. Production continues to World War II.
\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1902<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele exports equipment to Mexican de Tubos de Albanal, S.A., in Mexico, the first customer in a global base.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1903<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele patents the Rotary Automatic End Cutter, which becomes the U.S. standard for its simplicity and reliability.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1912<\/strong><\/h3>\n

J.C. Steele turns the management of the business over to his sons.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1922<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Steele family buys a small brick factory near Madison, NC. The Pine Hall Brick Company remains in the family and strengthens Steele\u2019s ties to the brick industry.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

1935<\/strong><\/h3>\n

J.C. Steele, Jr., a grandson, joins Steele as the first employee from the third generation.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1936<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Preston Steele, Jr., a grandson, joins the company.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1946<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Clarence N. Steele, a grandson, joins the company.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1947<\/strong><\/h3>\n

F. Montgomery Steele, a grandson, joins the company.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1951<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele sells its first machine in Australia. The 90AD Extruder becomes the Australian standard and makes Australia Steele\u2019s largest international market.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

1957<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Global sales grow significantly, driven by the new 60F Extruder and Pug Sealer.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

1965<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele installs its first INCLA IIIB.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1970s<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Three great-grandsons join the company \u2014 John Steele, Rick Steele and David Steele make the fourth generation of Steeles in management.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

1985<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele installs its first 36-24A Hammermill.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

1991<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele sells stiff extruders to National Recovery, for agglomeration of Bethlehem Steel by-products.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

1996<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele launches J.C. Steele Australia in Melbourne.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

2001<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele acquires a majority interest in H\u00e4ndle, a German manufacturer of premium clay working machinery.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

2008<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele launches J.C. Steele Asia in Changzou, China. Closed in 2020.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

2009<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steele becomes a founding partner of Direxa Engineering, giving The Steele Group turnkey plant delivery.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

2010<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The fifth generation of Steeles, Mac Steele and Marian Steele, join the company.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\n

2014<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\nUnder their leadership, Steele grew from one location in Statesville, North Carolina to ten locations and 500+ employees worldwide. The company acquired heavy clay market-leading brands H\u00e4ndle and ZMB Braun, and started a company with Direxa.
